my first giveaway, y'all!!!

As a blogger, I feel like there are some trends I haven't been able to get behind. Giveaways and subscription boxes are two trains that I have yet to hop aboard. Every month, I see the awesome reviews of subscription boxes and think, "Dang, when I am gainfully getting a steady paycheck again, I'm gonna do that!" [Tangent: There are so many and they all look awesome. Birchbox. Glossybox. Ipsy. or for god sakes that I-ella swag box that Little Chief Honeybee wrote about here. ] I love "free" surprises and I love the idea of getting something in the mail that isn't a medical bill, request to donate to my alma mater or US Weekly [Tangent: OK....who are we kidding? The US Weeklys that I get free for some inexplicable reason are always welcome! Without them, how will I know which stars are most like me. Ryan Gosling "grabs food on the go" so I know that we are kindred.]

My friend, Laura, who is the blogger at Tales from the Cripps, and I constantly text back and forth about our dream of being rich and glamorous and subscribing to every box possible. [Tangent: DREAM BIG!] but at this point in my life, I have other things that need my money. Because she is a fun lady and a good friend, a couple weeks back, she sent me my own personalized box of handpicked goodies consisting mostly of funky nail stickers and lip gloss and maybe a Garbage pail kid and Keroppi pencil.  [Tangent: Things that wreak of glamour and sophistication.] This way I would feel like one of the chosen ones in the cult of Birchbox.

Laura told me to keep some things and use some to stage my own grand giveaway, plus I have some leftover nail polish from my package from Natalie Dee  I am all about paying the riches forward, so I decided one of you lucky readers deserved to feel as special without having to pay $10/a month. You are  gonna get your own Kimmie-fied subscription box this April with things that have my stamp of approval.

I am starting with a goodie box that is slightly more lady focused, but I don't discriminate. My next giveaway will be unisex, or if you don't mind giving yourself a Man-i-cure, then knock yourselves out, fellas. Here's what one lucky winner will be getting:

A brand new bottle of the hottest and most often sold out holographic Super Black Nail Lacquer shade- WHIP!

A set of 16 leopard nail wraps from Nail Rock for you to mess around with

18 glitzy Sephora Nail Bling stickers in gold bubbles

  1. Kimmie, this is SOOO great! You are so creative. I'm gonna go ahead and make a lot of hipsters mad but I hated Lost In Translation... literally hated it! So boring... will never get those 3 hours of my life back!

  3. Oooooh, I'm so excited! I don't even have to think about the answer to this question - Planet Terror, Planet Terror, Planet Terror, hands down. I effing LOVE this movie even though it's so obviously a B (...maybe a C) movie. Unexpectedly, it's chock full of really well-known stars like Bruce Willis and Rose McGowan and Josh Brolin, and the blood and gore all appears to just be cherry Jello or cherry Kool-Aid. The acting is charmingly terrible and oh my gosh I just love the shit out of this movie. If you haven't seen it, Jones, I beg you to watch it. Just don't bother with the second half of this Grindhouse pair called Death Proof...it's awful. And not in a good way.

  6. I already like your facebook ;)
I liked Super Black Nail Lacquer

and I shared your give-away on my facebook, that should get me two entries, right? heartofsarah2012@gmail.com

I am not a huge movie buff, but I did recently see a movie that I thought was terrible. "silver lining playbook" Hubby and I tried to see this movie while on a mini vacation (maybe it was on my 30 birthday crap-away). We went during the matinee time because I am cheap (and movies are ridiculous), but once there found out they had the time on the poster outside wrong and we were about 20 minutes late (which after the previews, probably was only 5 mins). So, we got our money back. And came back later during the rip off prices time.
I was up to seeing this movie since Jennifer Lawrence was in it (and I liked the hunger games/the book more than the movie, but the movie was good) and the movie won some awards (right?).

But OMG. That was the longest movie. And so boring. I kept thinking, "it must get better soon". "It must get better soon." Eventually, I stopped thinking that and started facebooking. SO SAD!!!!

My husband and I kept looking at each other like we had a mutual distaste for the movie. I was shocked to find out that he actually liked it. And disappointed in him :) He said he liked it because he understands people being that crazy. I understand it too but a movie about crazy people should not be so dull.

But what do I know, everyone else in the world probably liked it too.

I was most annoyed that more of our money was wasted on the later show time. We should have stayed for the earlier showing and at least saved some money.

    1. I actually really liked that movie but my sister didnt. She hated Jennifer Lawrence's acting job and her character so was surprised when she got an Oscar.

  7. Duh...of course we can still be friends. There is more substance to our friendship than Tarantino can measure in his movies.

  8. Free nail stuff...I am in.

Already like your page, and the awesomeness of Super Black Nail Lacquer.

Hands down...Idle Hands. (see what I did there?!) It is the epitome of awful, its supposed to be scary and I giggle incessantly through the whole thing. PLUS Devin Saws is in it...and for some ridiculous reason I used to have a crush on him, which makes it even better.

    1. Oddly enough I never had a sawa crush. I did write Andrew Keegan a fan letter in middle school. Look him up.

    2. It's cute you think I don't know who Keegan was...geeeez. Keegan, JTT, and Sawa were big time crushes.

  10. So totally already liked you on Facebook and just gave Super Black Nail Lacquer some FB love, as well. And my favorite bad movie is "Roadhouse." Patrick Swayze rips out a guys THROAT. With his bare hands. And looks all sweaty and hot whilst doing it. I'd write more, but I'm off to YouTube to search for this awesomeness.

    1. Do you like podcasts? I encourage you with every fiber of my being to listen to the roadhouse How Did this Get Made? podcast. It's perfect car listening and will be something you will be quoting for years. Jamie and I have relistened to it several times.

  11. My favorite worst movie is Johnny Mnemonic. Mostly because Keanu Reeves is the #1 worst actor of all time. I used to watch this with friends in middle school and we would recite all the lines and try to OVERACT just like Keanu. Also, any movie with talking dolphins is a-ok with me.

    I like you on FB

  12. How exciting! I can't afford those monthly boxes either. Pfft. My worst favorite movie...hmm...I did recently find myself watching "Overboard" with Goldie Hawn all the way through. TWICE. But I was trapped on a boat coincidentally so it might have just been one of those "I'm on a boat" things.

Oh, and I favorited you on Face Place.

    1. yay! thanks for liking me on the book of faces! Also, Overboard was my favorite film as a youth. It made me have a weird dream that designing a mini golf course would be the best job ever. PLUS MONA FROM WHOs THE BOSS IS IS IT!!!!!!!!!!! I have so many times almost bought it for $5 at Target but then realized it is on TBS nonstop

  18. Liked you on fb! And if I win cool nailpolish and actually like it, then I'll "like" it too. But I can't just be throwing my likes at things I haven't tried! I don't wanna be a "stamp tramp!" ;)

Favorite bad movie, hands down, this 1987 musical version of Sleeping Beauty. (http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0093993/) My friend and I accidentally discovered it late one night a few years ago, and then couldn't tear ourselves away! The next morning, we wondered if we dreamed the whole thing, but turned out that it really did exist! Pretty sure the costumes and props all came from a high school drama department. Best theory on the songs is that many of the lyrics were being improvised on the spot. The terrible dialogue is hysterically quotable. And the synthesizer sound effects top the whole thing off quite nicely. Seriously, watch this movie! I'm not proud of how many times we watched after the initial discovery, but let's just say, we don't have to watch it anymore. It's all committed to memory. :)

  19. Have you heard of Birdemic? That is probably the worst movie I've ever seen. Painful to sit through!

    1. I love birdemic!!?!? Before Halloween I went to see a RiffTrax version of it where the guys from mystery science theatre do the commentary. It's so bad. The song that guy is singing in the bar "hangin out with my family...havin ourselves a party!" Is one my boyfriend likes to bust out in the car sometimes. Also, I've heard there's a sequel in the works
